The explorer section is focused on gaining badges and awards by taking part in team based adventures and challenges. All explorer scouts are actively encouraged to work towards both the Chief Scouts Platinum and Diamond awards whilst also working towards the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme at the same time.
All of these awards help to develop and challenge the explorers and to help them to work as teams.
We also take part in various fun and adventurous activities, including:
- District camp.
- Service camps at John’s Lee Wood.
- Explorer service teams supporting district camps for other sections.
- Climbing camp.
- Splash camp.
- Family camp.
- Winter camp.
- Shooting (.177 air rifles)
- Climbing & abseiling.
- Arial trekking.
- Canoeing & kayaking.
- Laser quest.
Explorers meet every other week on Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm until 9.00pm.
Being district based, we meet at two different church halls; Church or The Martyrs and Buckminster Baptist Church.
We normally alternate between the two locations each week unless we are ‘out and about’ taking part in a different activity.
Occasionally we meet at weekends instead of midweek.
K2 also have their own Facebook group which explorers and parents may join. This is a ‘closed’ group.
